Obituary

Jay Rodriguez, 63, of Phoenix, Arizona passed away on March 23, 2015. As a native Arizonan, Jay served in the US Air Force for 6 years. He often told stories about his experiences while being stationed in Spain. After his military service he went on to become a cosmetologist. Even after "retirement," he continued to serve those around him with his hairstyling skills. Many of his nieces and nephews have memorable stories from their experiences in his chair.

Jay enjoyed his time outdoors and always looked forward to the family's annual fishing trip. The fish always knew when Jay was on the lake ''' the 10 pound weight below the hook was a giveaway.

As a youngster, Jay grew up surrounded by his brothers and sisters and enjoyed many family activities of hiking, biking, and sports. He excelled at basketball. Later in life he enjoyed being an umpire for baseball and softball, and many enjoyed watching his unique style of calls as he judged the balls, strikes, and outs!

He also enjoyed supporting his nieces and nephews in their extracurricular activities, but the thing that he loved the most, was talking about his two daughters.

Jay is preceded in death by his mother Irene Tellez and father Richard Ingersoll. He is survived by many loving family members, including his two daughters, Charity (Greg) Ryan and Melissa (Calvin) Elson; 7 siblings Frances (Larry) Rougemont, Jessica (Paul) Besich, Robert (Polly) Ingersoll, Randy Ingersoll, Anna Marie (Eric) Yde, Brian (Ana) Ingersoll, and Carolyn (Kathy) Ingersoll; 8 grandchildren, a great grandson and 21 nieces and nephews.

The family would love to hear your fondest memory of Jay.

Services for Jay will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on Saturday, April 18, 2015 at 11am. The church is located at 1221 W. Howe St., Tempe, AZ 85281
